All American Sterilizer Overpressure Plug (Stove Top and Electric Models)
The overpressure plug is a replaceable part for All American Sterilizers (both stove top and electric models). This part is not for the pressure canner. For instance, the 1941 is a pressure canner, while the 1941X is a sterilizer.

All American requires all resellers (that’s us) to notify consumers that changing the overpressure plug is considered a modification of the device. Legally, it cannot be used as a medical device if it is not changed by a professional.
Experiencing your overpressure plug suddenly popping up, making a loud noise, and releasing pressure mid-sterilization can be quite alarming. If you have experienced this, check the yellow envelope that came with your sterilizer along with the paperwork. All American always provides a spare plug. However, it is crucial for every individual to have a spare as it is one of the parts that needs constant changing.
