Description
Orange Desiccant Silica Gel
This orange desiccant takes the guesswork out of when to refresh your desiccant. Orange silica gel will turn from orange to green when saturated, making it easy to know when it needs reactivation.
Silica gel can absorb up to 40 percent of its weight at 90 percent relative humidity. It can be used multiple times before losing its absorbing ability. When reactivated (dried out), the beads will return to their orange color.
All our orange silica gel bags are made from a non-woven semitransparent material mixed with white beads. These are food-safe and available in multiple quantities.
Recycling Instructions: Spread silica gel on a tray and place in an oven at 115°C to 125°C for approximately 2-3 hours or until the beads turn orange again. Once reactivated, remove the silica gel from the oven and let it cool until it can be handled. Store the silica gel in a sealed container until ready to use.
Storage: To retain the satchel’s usefulness, keep it in airtight conditions until needed. Silica gel will absorb moisture from any environment, so a sachet left open will immediately start taking up water vapor. Although the moisture uptake rate is not fast, small sachets can be vulnerable to such exposure due to their limited moisture-holding capacity.
It is recommended that small sachets are not left open to the atmosphere for more than 15 minutes, while larger sachets should not be removed from their packaging more than 1 hour before use. The shelf life of silica gel in a sealed environment is safely between 18 and 24 months, though practical experience shows it can often exceed this.
