Description
Petri Dish Containers for Making Agar – Alternative to Agar Plates (100ml x 50)
These dipping sauce containers, originally known for their intended use, are widely used in mycology for pouring agar plates. Instead of using Petri dishes (which must be sealed with parafilm), you can pour agar into these containers and simply close the lid.
Your purchase includes:
- 50x Agar containers (They come clean and almost sterile due to the manufacturing process).
What are these containers used for?
These containers are ideal for germinating spores, isolating genetics, and transferring and cleaning cultures. However, they are not recommended for long-term storage as they do not allow for air exchange, which is crucial for long-term preservation.
When do we recommend using these containers?
If you are a beginner experiencing contamination issues, these containers are a great choice. Since they do not allow for air exchange, the chances of contamination are drastically minimized. We also recommend using these containers if you do not have access to a flow hood or a still air box.
We provide Agar Pre-Mixes for making agar plates at home.Reagent bottles are also available.
If you are making agar at home and need sterilization instructions using a microwave (if you do not own a sterilizer), please message us for assistance.
