Air Filter Vent:
This Air Filter Vent ensures gas exchange in culture containers while preventing contamination. The 0.3-micron filter blocks contaminants but allows oxygen and carbon dioxide to pass through. Long-lasting, durable, autoclavable, hydrophobic, oleophobic, microwavable, and high-temperature resistant, it is widely used for grain jars and liquid cultures.
Self-healing Injection Port:
The self-healing Silicone Injection Port allows needles to pass through and self-heal afterward. It is autoclavable, long-lasting, easy to clean, and aesthetically pleasing. This port can also be used for Uncle Ben’s tek and is both microwavable and high-temperature resistant.
3M Adhesive:
The efficiency and security of these items are due to the strong 3M adhesive, which can withstand autoclave temperatures over 121°C at 15psi for extended periods. For optimal performance, keep the jar covered with aluminum foil to prevent water/steam intrusion.
Preparation and Usage:
- Surface Preparation: Clean the surface with an alcohol swab and allow it to dry completely for proper adhesion.
- Hole Diameter: The port’s overall diameter is 2 cm, ideal for a 1cm (10mm) hole. Use a drill bit for a perfect injection hole on the lid.
- Surface Compatibility: Suitable for clean, hard surfaces like standard metal and plastic jar lids. Not intended for soft materials like mushroom grow bags. Smooth plastic lids are recommended to avoid adhesive performance issues during sterilization runs.
